Unifiber SDM C100 C.curve
windsurf masts
Are you looking for a new mast? But don’t you know which one yet? Unifiber masts are available in various sizes, carbon percentages, diameters and curves. Unifiber has the right mast for every windsurfer! Below we explain which mast suits you perfectly.
Which mast is right for me?
Several masts are available with different bending curves. There are three different curves: Constant Curve, Constant FL Curve or Constant FH Curve. It is very important to look at this bending curve, the sails are specially designed for the curve of a mast. Fortunately, most brands nowadays use a constant curve mast. But there are certainly exceptions. To know which curve you need you can look at the second image above or view our mast page https://www.telstarsurf.nl/surfshop/telstar-tips/masten-wetenschap/ (note the year of construction of your sail). View the sail brand and check the curve!
Have you found the right curve for your brand? Then there is the possibility to choose between the correct carbon percentages. At Unifiber you can choose from three different carbon percentages: C50, C75 and C100.
But when do you choose which mast?
- C50: The Essentials C50 masts serve as an entry point to the Unifiber range of high-end masts, offering a good balance of value and quality. Highly recommended for recreational windsurfing, they are the first choice for beginner and hobby surfers. Pay attention! The less percentage of carbon there is in a mast, the less vulnerable it is, such as crashes, dropping it on the ground or putting it on a rock. But a mast with more carbon can handle more curve voltage. (think of the downhaul tension) So only use these masts for a Freeride oriented sail and do not leave the sail rigged for too long.
- C75: The Unifiber HD C75 mastring offers an excellent blend of durability and responsiveness that is optimal for many surfers. With their impressive performance, these masts are a great match for waverriders, amateur racers and high-wind freeriders who want to take their windsurfing skills to the next level. In short, these masts can be called very all-round, they are strong and can maintain a lot of curve so that you can optimally use your sail.
- C100: The Elite C100 masts are our most popular choice for high-end wave and slalom The lightning-fast flex of this mast ensures optimal response and power control for your sail. For dedicated and serious windsurfers this is the best choice for low weight, high performance and a durable mast.
SDM or RDM
You will probably hear the terms here and there in relation to the diameter of a windsurfing mast. There are 2 types of diameter masts available RDM and SDM.
- SDM stands for Standard Diameter Mast. Logically, this is the mast with the thicker diameter. These masts are used 80% of off the time. These SDM masts are used by freeriders, freerace, slalom and racers. The ideal diameter is also indicated on your sail.
- RDM stands for Reduced Diameter Mast, this means that the diameter of the mast is smaller. The RDM mast has a thicker rigging thickness and is stronger. This is often used by wave and freestyle windsurfers. Do you want to know what thickness you need? Then look at your sail or sail cover, the optimal mast is often indicated here.
